Business Structure
Half of small businesses operate as solopreneurs, while 28% have teams of 2-5 employees, reflecting a predominantly lean organizational structure. The remaining businesses range from 6-10 employees (8%) to over 50 employees (7%).
Key Challenges
62% of small businesses struggle with visibility, primarily facing difficulties in building brand awareness (40%), creating engaging content (33%), and finding and keeping customers (28%). Other challenges include scaling operations efficiently (18%), keeping up with technology and AI (12%), and managing finances (8%).
Freelance Utilization
60% of small businesses regularly hire freelance talent, with 30% engaging freelancers monthly and another 30% quarterly. Nearly a third spend over $1,000 annually on freelancers, with the most commonly outsourced functions being branding and graphic design (45%), digital marketing (28%), and web/app development (19%).
AI Adoption
77% of small businesses work with AI tools, with 35% using them for business needs and 32% for both business and personal purposes. An additional 46% plan to integrate AI, primarily on their own (16%) or through freelancers (11%).
Investment Priorities
For 2025, 49% of small businesses plan to invest in digital marketing, followed by branding and visual identity (39%), website/app development (37%), and video content (34%). Graphics and design remain the most ordered service at 60%, while social media (64%) leads as the preferred marketing channel.
Operational Efficiency
43% of small businesses dedicate 1-5 hours weekly to marketing and operations, with graphic design tools (50%) and AI content tools (37%) being the most utilized business resources. The fastest-growing service categories include UGC ads (66% growth), AI development (41%), and custom website development (37%).
